The energy was high in the first half of the Warriors’ 2023-24 NBA preseason opening against the Los Angeles Lakers at Chase Center on Saturday.
In the final seconds of the first quarter, Golden State lead Los Angeles 29-21 when Jonathan Kuminga passed out of the paint to Steph Curry… who wasn’t in the game.
Curry and his new Warriors teammate Chris Paul laughed about it on the bench.
After the game, even Kuminga smiled.
On 3-of-7 shooting from the field and 1-of-4 from 3-point range, the 21-year-old concluded the first half with nine points, four rebounds, two assists, and one block.
With the regular season just around the corner, the Warriors can laugh about the gaffe for the time being, but they’ll be hoping for fewer gaffes when they face the Phoenix Suns on Oct. 24 at Chase Center.
